An experimental system was developed to assess and rank the performance of commercial antiscalants designed to inhibit mineral scale formation on reverse osmosis membrane surfaces. The study focused on calcium sulfate dihydrate (gypsum) precipitation to illustrate an approach to antiscalant ranking
