This paper focuses on the applicability of microfiltration (MF)/ultrafiltration (UF) as a pretreatment to nanofiltration (NF) for the reclamation of rinsing waters of indigo dyeing process. Two different MF alternatives, single 5 mm MF and sequential 5 mm'/0.45 mm MF, were evaluated as prefiltration

As the BSA-benzoin loading increases, the increase in retention is not very sharp. The effect of pH would be clearer when the enantioselectivity is studied by HPLC. Moreover apoform of the benzaldehyde lyase enzyme might give better results in terms of total benzoin retention since it is more specif

A mixed matrix membrane structure which can be cast as permselective gas separation membranes with attractive gas separation performances could be obtained with polycarbonate as matrix and zeolite 4A as filler.

The results have indicated that MF could be an alternative for the pretreatment of indigo dyeing wastewaters. Membranes with pore sizes smaller than 1.2 µm provided relatively low COD but high color rejections. The COD rejections somewhat improved when wastewater pH adjusted to a neutral value.
